Being Healthy

At Daisy Chains Nursery being healthy is an important part of everyday life.  We have daily routines to ensure our environment is clean and safe at all times.  We have exclusion times for childhood illnesses, which all parents are required to adhere to, minimising the risk of cross infection.

The children are encouraged to develop independence with their personal hygiene, e.g. washing their hands after going to the toilet and before snack and meal times.  We encourage the children to develop an understanding of the things that affect health - 'germs' etc.

Our snack and meals are healthy and nutritious, and the staff encourage the children to discuss healthy eating.  Even our youngest children are encouraged to set up and clear away at snack and mealtimes.

Being healthy also means physical development and co-ordination.  We have an 'open door' policy for the garden meaning the children can play outside in most weathers on the decked area and in the grass garden.  We have lots of outside toys and play lots of group games, e.g. 'Whats the time Mr Wolf'.  The children are supervised at all times, maintaining the Ofsted child:staff ratios, whether inside or outdoors.
