Ladybirds Room

In our 3-5 years room we have a staff:child ratio of 1:8 at all times. The older children in the nursery follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum in preparation for their move to infant’s school.
The children are encouraged to begin to be more independent for example by pouring their own drinks, helping lay tables and tidying up toys. We also encourage them to begin to manage putting coats and shoes on themselves. Our emphasis is on encouraging self help with lots of praise for the children’s efforts.
We have weekly topics that are developed to incorporate all the Foundation Stage learning goals:
-
Personal, Social and Emotional
-
Communication, Language and Literacy
-
Mathematical Learning
-
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
-
Physical Development
-
Creative Development
-
Science and Technology
Our curriculum is available for parents to look at and discuss at any time. We will provide all parents with regular reports about their child's development and have two open evenings each year. When your child leaves Daisy Chains to begin Infant School we will provide a full written report about your child.
We have regular outings for our Ladybirds, usually in small groups. As well as visiting our local community we will have some trips further afield, for example Hadleigh country park, the beach, Marsh Farm and the Butterfly Farm. You will be fully informed of any trips outside of the nursery setting in advance.
There are also some places available with a qualified swimming teacher at The Appleton School swimming pool on Wednesdays only at a small extra cost. Please let us know if you would be interested in a place.
